The University South Foundation (USF) is hosting its 6th Annual Golf Tournament Scholarship Fundraiser on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Mountain View Golf Course at Ft. Huachuca. Your contribution and participation support University of Arizona students who are residing in Cochise County and are enrolled in the Cyber Program at the College of Applied Science and Technology (C.A.S.T.). These scholarships and programs ensure a future workforce in our community.

"I’m extremely grateful to have received the University South Foundation scholarship.  The scholarship assisted in covering tuition, books, tools, lab and travel fees and many other small costs that stack up through a semester. The scholarship enabled me to cover these lingering expenses and their associated costs which enabled me to focus on my studies and continue my pursuit of a CYBER degree from the University of Arizona. THANK YOU to the Foundation Board and their many supporters."
Cameron Williams, UArizona C.A.S.T. Bachelor of Cyber Engineering Candidate, anticipated Spring 2023 graduate

According to the National Security Association, the Federal Government will need over 350,000 Cyber Warriors in the next three years to be able to protect and defend networks from growing cyber-attacks. The University South Foundation is working closely with University of Arizona to establish scholarships to support the cyber community. In the fall of 2018, the University of Arizona Cyber Operations program was designated a Center of Academic Excellence- Cyber Operations from the National Security Agency and was recognized as a top cyber school in the nation!

How can you help? You can donate, sponsor, or participate in the USF fundraising golf tournament. A shotgun start will commence at 8:00 a.m. Lunch will be served directly after completion of the round. Sponsors and golf competitors will be recognized at the Awards ceremony during lunch. Directly after the Golf Scramble Awards ceremony, the Foundation will be hosting a two-person competition. See the golf flyer for details and registration information.

Since 2017, we have raised $70,000 in scholarships for Cyber students. Your sponsorship can help us reach our goal of $25,000 for the 2022-23 academic year.
Please see the attached sponsorship form to find the sponsor level that is right for your organization. Golfers and teams can sign up on our website at: https://www.universitysouthfoundation.com/golf-fundraiser.
Thank you for your consideration and support. For more information, please contact the University South Foundation at universitysouthfoundation@gmail.com

The most significant difference between encaustic and cold wax is that, while with encaustic painting the wax must be molten to work with, and then reheated (fused) once its applied to the surface, in cold wax painting there is no heat involved. (Please see my “About Encaustic Painting” page for more encaustic details), Cold Wax is an oil painting medium which is a buttery soft paste made of beeswax mixed with a small amount of solvent and resin. The cold wax paste is mixed with the oil paint on the palette. Cold wax adds body, transparency and depth to the oil paint. It also speeds up drying time, increases the paint’s workability and does not require the special ventilation of encaustic. Cold wax medium also combines readily with other mediums such as dry pigment, powdered charcoal, marble dust, chalk pastel, graphite and oils sticks.
